Hello, I am Scott - the Future Guy

Hello, I am Scott the future guy, I am 85 years old and I just got off of a ten hour shift and now I am going to baby sit my grand children while my son goes and works his ten hour shift (can't afford a baby sitter).  Unfortunately for me there is no longer any social security left because all our taxes are going to make the interest payments on the national debt.  My 401K plan, which I thought would help me through, all but evaporated after successive blunders by executives who were running it.  By the way, they all now live on some island they built using the money they collected from the

40% Do Not Pay Income Taxes – The Manipulation of the Numbers and Words

Recently the republicans have been making a big deal about Obama's tax plan.  They are claiming that it is socialist in nature since Obama will increase the taxes on the wealthiest and cut taxes on everyone else.  The republicans claim that 40% of US citizens do not pay income taxes but this is just a matter of how you define taxes.  In truth, no matter what your income, we all pay FICA (Federal Insurance Contributions Act aka Social Security Tax) and FMHI (Medicare) taxes, although the republican's call these “fees”.  I, like many hard working people are tired of the play on words, an

What If...

What if the supreme court had not stopped the recount and Al Gore really did win the 2000 election.  How the last eight years would have been different.  The United States definitely would have been in a different situation than it is in today.  The nation's military involvement, its debt, dependence on foreign oil, and even the current political race would be drastically different.

Do Not Insult Me By Calling Me a Six Pack American

Folks, we should be insulted when Palin-McCain call us six pack Americans!  While I enjoy a alcoholic beverage on occasion I do not drink a six pack a day.  Actually, I would consider such behavior to be a "problem" but more importantly there is no way I could afford that much beer!  If you are going to slap a label on me be sure it something that is complimentary.

It is Time to Up the Ante

With Obama ahead in the polls it would be all to easy to become complacent but Obama's lead is resulting in even more accusations from Palin-McCain. Every day we are seeing an increasing number of smeers from calling Obama a terrorist to calling him a socialist because he wants to roll back Bush's tax cuts. We need to get the truth out there and we need to push hard to make sure other voters do not fall prey to these lies.

A Vote for Obama is NOT Unpatriotic

While there are many reasons why I would never support the Palin-McCain ticket there is one that stands out above all else. The ongoing insinuations that voting for anyone else is putting country last and anti-American. This can be illustrated when these candidates claim they are visiting “pro-America” parts of this country and that we can put “country first or Obama first”. These tactics of calling us the “bad guys” is simply wrong! I know that I for one love my country and I can honestly say the same of everyone that I know who supports Obama!

The Race is Not Over

While it is so very easy to get excited
over the latest trends being seen in the polls we can not afford to
become complacent. One thing is certain both McCain and Palin are
going to up the ante, they are going to increase their push on lying

Sadly Race is Still an Issue

Recent events at Republican rallies are proof positive that racism is alive an well in this country.  Furthermore, the actions of both Sarah Palin and John McCain are proof of this fact.  Recently, at many  Republican rallies, there have been people calling Obama a a Muslim and an Arab.  If Obama were a blue eyed-blonde hair-white guy  I highly doubt any of these accusations would be made.  While John McCain, to his credit, did respond to one of these claims, his response was still woefully lacking.  He referred to Obama as a decent family guy but he did not address the fact that whethe

New McCain ad calls Obama 'not presidential'

Actually, in a way, this is a compliment to Obama.  We have all seen what behaviors McCain think to be presidential with how he has run this campaign.  Constantly McCain is trying to make a big deal out of relationships that Obama has had with others.  Fact of the matter is that when you are working as a community leader or a politician you will be required to work with others.  Often you will be working with people you do not agree with and you may even dislike them in a strong way.  It does not take much research to find out how often McCain has been associated with people of questionab

Sarah Palin Beats Expectations

The polls are in and the pundits have all come to the same conclusions; Sarah Palin beat all expectations pertaining to her performance.  What is not being said though was that the bar was set about as low as it could go!  Everyone was expecting the same babbling nonsense which she has spewed in one-on-one interviews.   In this case she spent an incredible amount of time preparing and one thing I noted was that she stuck to previously established responses.   Some of her responses were not even remotely related to the question that was being asked!
