Why We Were Falsely Arrested

ST. PAUL, Minn.—Government crackdowns on journalists are a true threat to democracy. As the Republican National Convention meets in St. Paul , Minn. , this week, police are systematically targeting journalists. I was arrested with my two colleagues, “Democracy Now!” producers Sharif Abdel Kouddous and Nicole Salazar, while reporting on the first day of the RNC. I have been wrongly charged with a misdemeanor. My co-workers, who were simply reporting, may be charged with felony riot.

U.S. can keep companies from testing for mad cow, court rules

What is our government coming to when it actively works to prevent an organization from testing.  What is ironic about this is there are many conseratives who decry forced testing as infringing on the free market.  However, when a company FREELY chooses to "test" then those companies get involved and use the governement to force a company to not test.

Republicans Must Recant All Arguments on Experience

For months, now and even just yesterday, the Republicans have been relentlessly attacking Obama for lacking experience. Then, out of the blue, a running mate is chosen who has absolutely no national experience, even less than what Obama has. Palin, is a running mate who has not even served two years in her current position. It is not that she could not do a good job, what is glaringly obvious here is the Republican hypocrisy once again at work.

Just In: Republicans Are Running Scared and Reverting To Fear Tatics

Below, is an email I just received from the Republicans, they assume I am aligned with them because I am a business owner, which is amazing but that is a topic for a different time.  The Republicans fully believe that Obama will get a "bump" in the polls after the convention.  As a result they are begging people to donate to them, obviously to help finance negative campaigns against Obama to deflect this bump.  We must act now and donate money to help Obama fight the continuing fear mongering pushed forth by the Republicans!

Republican Energy Plan Just a Hand-Out to the Oil Companies

For quite some time now I have pondered the question of how the Republicans can, with a straight face, claim that opening additional areas to oil exploitation will result in immediate relief at the pump.  The simple obvious truth is that the oil from these areas would only be able to supply 1% of our daily need and if we were to start drilling today it could take anywhere from seven to twenty years before that supply was realized!  Factor in that there are already vast areas, for which the oil companies currently hold leases, that have not been tapped.  Let me repeat that, there are vast re

The Blogger Behind the Obama Hit Job

I would highly recommend reading this article from Time magazine
regarding  Obama Nation: Leftist Politics and the Cult of
Personality
Their assessment points out how there are eight (8)
major errors in the first 50 pages of this book.  The article

Liberal Media?

Republicans constantly refer to the "liberal" media but is the media really that liberal?  Consider for a moment how the media has covered relationships between Clinton and Obama.  Recently CNN ran a story indicating that there was a rumor that Obama never considered Clinton for the vice president slot.  In this story they cited three different Clinton supporters that were angry with this "fact".  However, CNN only gave the name of one of these people.  Without doubt there are people who are angry that there favorite candidate was not chosen but is it that widespread?

How Can McCain Lead This Country If He Can't Lead His Campaign?

John McCain and His Homes

By now we have all heard about John McCain's inability to answer the question of how many homes he has as well as the argument about whether or not he owns five or seven.  The various Republican spinners have come forth with arguments saying that McCain did want to answer the question wrong and that he only owns five because two of them are "family homes".  They have also begun to attack Obama because he owns a single home although its worth around a million dollars.
