This Country Needs a Leader that Unites, Not Divides

For the last couple weeks McCain and the RNC have steadily launched smear campaigns not only against Obama but against those that support him as well.  Characterizing Obama’s popularity as a “celebrity” is a direct attack on his supporters.  What McCain is saying is that Obama’s support does not stem from his leadership or what he will fight for but from some fanatical following.

Those of us who support Obama do so because we fully believe he will turn this country around.  We believe the country is headed in the wrong direction and we are tired of being ignored.  We are paying over twice as much for gasoline now than we were eight years ago while our paychecks have not doubled.  We can not and will not support a man who promises more of the same.  We will not support a man who demonstrates his contempt for us when he claims Obama’s support is derived from his celebrity status and not his politics.

These continued insults are not what we need to turn this country around.  These continued insults will not unite us.  We need a leader who will put the “united” back in United States and a leader who will bring us together to face one of the biggest threats this country has every faced.  This threat is far worse than terrorism and historical threats like communism.  This threat is what hurts us every time we fill up our tank with fuel, pay our electric bills, and heating bills.  We need a leader who will truly end the energy crisis and not use tried and failed policies.
