McCain is Not the Type of Maverick We Need

Negative campaign ads are something many of us hate but unfortunately we will not seem them go away anytime soon for one simple reason.  They work.  It is an unfortunate fact that a large percentage of voters respond to them.  However, there is one thing that we all do demand and that is they at least be based on truth.  Unfortunately we now have a presidential candidate who has taken the negative ads to a new low, he is now flat out lying.  Even Carl Rove, the man credited to helping Bush win, using less than desirable practices, has attacked McCain’s recent ads.  His exact words were, “one step to far” when referring to McCain’s latest ads attacking Barack Obama.

Consider, for a moment, McCain’s latest ads which accuse Barack Obama of standing in the way of significant immigration reform. Reform that would include a guest worker program and that would provide a path for citizenship.  However, when looking at voting records, both McCain and Obama voted the same on immigration reform.  Furthermore, it was the Republicans who were launching filibusters and preventing this reform from passing.  While it is understandable why some would oppose some of the immigration reform legislation it is not ethical to vote one way and then flat out lie about it.

For months now many of us have been searching for just what it is that John McCain thinks makes him a maverick.  It has now become self evident, is ongoing desire to run a campaign based solely on false accusations and on empty rhetoric definitely goes against the “rules”.  It also goes against what others before him have done.  While they may have made claims based on half truths they have left the dirty work to the special interest groups.

We can do something about this though!  Let us stand up and say no to this game of dirty politics, let us go out there and find out the truth, and reveal just how dishonest this man is!

Our politicians must

Our politicians must understand the basic demand of the voter. Otherwise it will create a great loss for them. Mr. McCain is a right example of it.

This editorial actually points out one of the exaggerations by a democratic group but there are far more examples of false, misleading, and desception by the McCain-Palin campaign!
